Rapid Lightning Experience

by James H. ByrdProtected by Copyscape. Do not copy.

This week's photos come from a reader who lives in the Rapid Lightning area northeast of Sandpoint. Matt was kind enough to share his photos of a half-frozen Rapid Lightning Creek and a classic North Idaho traffic jam.

2/18/06: Frozen falls: The single-digit temperatures we've experienced over the past week caused even some of the flowing water to freeze up. Here a small waterfall along Rapid Lightning Creek is bordered by ice and snow-covered rocks.

2/19/06: Ice flow: Rapid Lightning meanders past frosty foliage. Nature provides artistic embellishment with smooth ice contours along the banks.

2/19/06: Equine Traffic Jam: North Idaho has more kinds of traffic jam than some areas. This time, its a horse, of course. Several of them, in fact. From left to right, we have Primo, Quattro, and Teaspoon. The goat down at their feet is Tux. Primo had to wake up to move out of the way.

See you next week!
